Colby Athmer is 9 years old (turning 10 in June), he plays for the Saskatoon Wild in the winter and the Bridge City Grizzlies in the spring. Both are located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada! 

Colby has played hockey since he was 5 years old and he started because he was constantly playing mini sticks down the hallway in our house. We have plenty of scratches and dents in our walls thanks to his early hockey days and have upgraded to include synthetic ice and a full-size net in our basement. This is the first year (2019-20) that Colby was able to be a full-time goalie on his team and there is no going back now! He absolutely loves being a ‘tender!



Where did you first hear about the Oneiric's Genesis Base Layer and what intrigued you to buy it?
We first heard about Oneiric online and then we physically checked out the Genesis Base Layer at Al Anderson’s Source for Sports locally in Saskatoon. We were intrigued to finally find a goalie-specific undergarment that would not only keep him cool during practices but that would also have some safety features.

What has your experience been like using Genesis so far?
We love it so much that we just bought another pair of the pants! With Colby playing at the top tier in his age group, he’s seeing thousands of shots a week in practice and we want him to be well-protected and comfortable at the same time.

What are your favourite features of the Genesis Base Layer and why?
We were intrigued by the features such as the grip on the knees to keep the knee pads up and I really appreciate the safety features of the cut resistant material on the lower leg portion. It is stressful enough to be a goalie mom, knowing that he’s got an extra layer of protection on beneath his pads and gear sure helps. Plus, it washes great! When you’re on the ice 4 or 5 days a week you need two sets of quality undergear.

How do you think Oneiric compares to other base layer products?
To be honest, we haven’t tried any others because we’ve been so happy with the Oneiric product!
