Sophia is a 9 year old second year Atom player from Edmonton, Alberta. She plays for the Millwood Bruins during the regular season and had the honour of playing on the Junior Pandas female u10 team this past spring. She started playing hockey at 3 years old, just as something fun to try. She has grown to love the game and has big aspirations for her future in hockey. Her favourite hockey team is the Pittsburg Penguins.
Where did you first hear about Oneiric and their Origin Base Layer?
We had been searching for a base layer for a female player for a long time. Sophia didn't like bare legs and would always wear leggings under her short jill. All these layers made her way too hot and very bulky. We just couldn't find a pant base layer for a youth girl. It was very frustrating to find such a large gap in the market. One evening I saw Oneiric on Dragons' Den and immediately looked into getting a pair. I liked that they were Canadian made and had a female specific item; not an after thought that you could just stick a jill into a product made for boys. Once they arrived she fell in love.
What are your favourite features of the Origin Base Layer and why?
They fit nice, they are cool and very comfortable. She also loves the ease of getting dressed with the shin guard pockets. As a mom I love the extra safety features, like the cut-resistant ankle cuffs and the padding on the back of the legs.
How does the Origin Base Layer compare to other base layers that you've tried?
Oneiric is by far the best base layer option for youth girls in hockey on the market today. Thank you for creating a product with young female hockey players in mind!
