This is Koen, one of our awesome 2020 Ambassadors!
Koen started playing hockey when he was just five years old. He had been watching YouTube videos of old hockey games and decided that he wanted to be a hockey player too.
Since it was mid season, we started with public skating first. He officially started his first season of house league when he turned six. Shortly after that we found the Canadian Blind Hockey league. Koen has a visual impairment called nystagmus and the blind hockey league helped him build confidence on the ice.
Koen plays center and left wing and he loves both positions!
Because of quarantine and no hockey right now, Koen enjoys skating on his synthetic ice in his home basement. He also enjoys inline skating and playing on the street.
