Stinky, smelly, sweaty gear… there are few things more dreaded. Everyone who has loved a hockey player has been exposed to the stench of equipment after a game, and there’s nothing lovable about it.
Those of you with a lot of extra storage space (a garage, for example), are probably able to deal with the stench by throwing yours or your child’s gear in a dark secluded corner until the next game.
Those of us who live in condos in downtown Toronto are less lucky. That’s why we were so impressed when we came across this idea - a custom designed drying rack for hockey equipment. Matthew Stenzel has provided some pretty decent instructions for assembling this rack here, so if you are a DIYer you can replicate this at home. We might just try it out ourselves!
We know there are a variety of other ad hoc contraptions out there for drying gear, such as the PVC models on the market. As individuals living in a small space, we would much rather leave our gear out on something with a sturdy build and attractive design, such as Stenzel’s design below.
What are your solutions to dealing with stinky hockey gear? We would love to hear your stories and creative ideas! Post photos on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook with the hashtag #dreamdifferent @oneirichockey to share yours.
